Start with the original invoice
- Open the customer’s invoice and check its payments, previous refunds and remaining balance.
- Use the available refund or correction action with the appropriate staff permission. Review the amount and original payment method.
- Record the reason and any required reference. Check the resulting status before repeating an uncertain action.
- Separately verify whether any physical item is being returned and whether it is suitable to put back into stock.
Why stock may not change
A money-only refund does not automatically establish that the shop received a sellable part or product. Inventory history and retained repair usage depend on the actual return workflow.
A credit, void or refund is a different event from deleting a record. Preserve the original transaction history and use the correction tools available for its current state.
