Understand SMS permission and opt-outs

Check the sender and the customer’s permission before texting.

Before a customer text

  1. Select the correct location and confirm its SMS connection is ready.
  2. Review the customer’s phone number and recorded permission for the message you plan to send.
  3. Prepare a relevant message and check the segment estimate, particularly for long text or emoji.
  4. Review the delivery result and any reply in the available messaging workflow.

Respect changes in permission

A customer’s opt-out must be honored. STOP and other supported provider opt-out behavior should be handled through the configured sender rather than bypassed with another number.

A customer contact import does not grant texting permission. If a customer later chooses to opt back in, use the provider’s supported process and retain appropriate consent evidence.

About this AI guide & voice

AI answers can make mistakes. Messages are processed by OpenAI, or a configured Gemini or xAI Grok backup if a provider is unavailable. Voice clips you choose to record are processed only by OpenAI. Voice becomes an editable draft before you send your question. RepairHQ does not save this chat or recordings to its database; refreshing clears the page’s conversation. The processing provider’s retention policies may apply. Please leave out passwords, payment details and customer records. This guide cannot access or change your shop.

Typing works without microphone access. The microphone runs only while you record. Questions and recordings have usage limits.
